The BEST Colleges To Work For: Chronicle Of Higher Education Report (PHOTOS)

Each year, the Chronicle of Higher Education asks faculty at colleges and universities around the country to participate in a survey to determine the quality of each academic workplace and find which schools truly merit the efforts of their employees.

The survey recognizes each institution for its cumulative rankings in 12 categories, including compensation and benefits, confidence in senior leadership, work/life balance and professional development, among others.

Of the 275 schools that participated this year, 97 schools received scores to qualify them as great workplaces. Thirty four-year colleges won spots on the 2010 Honor Roll.

Click through the slideshow to discover nine of the best four-year colleges to work for; we feature three small, three mid-sized and three large universities that truly surpassed the rest. See the Chronicle's full list of "Great Colleges to Work For" to find more information by category, and to learn which other schools are at the head of the pack.
