Sheriff Joe Arpaio: I Will Jail Immigration Law Protesters (VIDEO)

AP/Huffington Post - The sheriff of the most populous county in Arizona says he's "not going to put up with any civil disobedience" when the state's new immigration law takes effect.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says that if protesters want to block his jail, he'll put them in it.

The Arizona law, which takes effect Thursday, requires officers enforcing other laws to check a person's immigration status if they suspect the person is in the country illegally.

Arpaio told ABC's "Good Morning America" he doesn't know "what the big hype is."

He says it's "a crime to be here illegally and everyone should enforce" the law.

"Nothing really is going to change other than the fact that if we come across an illegal alien that doesn't have a state charge now we can arrest them and book them into the jail or turn him over to ICE," he said. "We're not engaged in [racial profiling] now in all types of crimes we enforce. So what's the difference whether you enforce another crime, which is the illegal immigration? So we are very comfortable."

It's amazing how much this guy looks like Hitler. All he needs is the mustache! I'm sorry I won't be able to be in Phoenix to participate in civil disobedience to protest this new immigration law. I would really look forward to being incarcerated and wearing the pink underwear. I'm only hoping that there will be matching pink bras to go with it. I'm a 66 y/o white female and I would participate without any ID and speaking only Spanish. What a hoot. I look forward to being incarcerated with other like minded compassionate souls. We could talk and sing and laugh and take the next step on the road to heaven.

There are a lot of things that Joe does that I do not agree with. People should not be treated like animals but as far as the immigration law. People get tired of not having jobs because immigrants will take them at lower pay and accommodating them as far as speaking spanish and we cannot get the better paying jobs because we are not bilingual. This has gotten out of hand and if the government wouldnt just let any and everybody over here and would have gotten on this in the beginning it wouldn't be such a big issue. I support the law and people have freedom of speech they can say what they want but when they start acting like a fool they need to be thrown in jail. There are so many things like lynching racism that go on in the south and they are worried about being somewhere illegally where they can go and get papers and be here legally. They are not sending everyone back just the one who don't have papers. I believe if they do not tweak this law it is going to be more trouble than I care to know or deal with. Blacks and Jews have been through much worse. Stop complaining and thank God that you have life.

US Army Lures Foreigners with Promise of Citizenship

Cordula Meyer in Washington

The parents of 25-year-old Julieta Ortiz immigrated to the United States from Mexico City, dirt-poor but ambitious.

Jose Figueira, 31, spent much of his life listening to his father proudly recount his experiences as a soldier in the Portuguese army. Figueira, who grew up in Massachusetts, yearned to have something he could be just as proud of. "I wanted to prove that I'm a good citizen, that I'm willing to stand up for everything I love about this country."

They may have different reasons for joining the US Armed Forces, but all three are now among the more than 30,000 foreign soldiers fighting for America -- not as Americans, but as a Mexican, a Portuguese and even a German. Without its foreign soldiers, the United States would have trouble coming up with enough troops to meet the demand in Iraq. The foreigners, for their part, take the dangerous job mainly for its biggest reward: US citizenship.

Since Sept. 11, 2001, the United States has granted US citizenship to 32,500 foreign soldiers. In July 2002, US President George W. Bush issued an executive order to expand existing legislation to offer a fast track to citizenship to foreigners who agree to fight for the US Armed Forces. About 8,000 non-Americans have joined the US military every year since

Right. Obama is expanding the powers of FBI.

Please, check the official name of the German party you are referring to. It was a *socialist* party. US Progressives share many goals and ideals with them.

The powers you are referring to are the product of the centralized unified government with the Great Leader in the head of the State. In US it can only come form Washington. Especially if Federal Government will succeed on taking away all of the rights of the individual states.
