What's Your Reaction:

Drew Carey revealed a dramatic weight loss when he stepped out at a party in LA Wednesday night. He told People he lost 80 pounds by sticking to a strict no-carb diet.

"No carbs," he said. "I have cheated a couple times, but basically no carbs, not even a cracker. No bread at all. No pizza, nothing. No corn, no beans, no starches of any kind. Egg whites in the morning or like, Greek yogurt, cut some fruit."

Carey also said he drinks nothing but water and does lots of cardio. He used to have type II diabetes but no longer.

"I'm not diabetic anymore. No medication needed," he said. Another benefit: "I like being skinny. I was sick of being fat on the camera. Really, I just got sick of it."

Here is Drew on the 'Price is Right' set in March 2009 (left) and on Wednesday (right).

And here he just this past January:

No carbs...and the lap band procedure!

He lost 80 lbs. between January and August???? Wow, way too rapidly, IMO.
Btw, Drew, fruits and vegetables are carbohydrates. Glad to see you're still eating them.

Of course it's sustainable :) thousands of success stories like Drew Carey on FAT TO SKINNY Fast and Easy are proof of that.....me, 8 years now...100 pounds gone forever and type 2 diabetes cured! The cool part is all the free support you get at the FAT TO SKINNY web site. :)

Good for him, but his way of eating is not sustainable long term. He will gain it back and then some. Unfortunately.

Good for him! I'm sure he doesn't care if people think he's too skinny, he reversed Type-2 Diabetes, obesity and will probably live a long, healthy and energetic life. Personally I think he looks great, and he looks happy!

First people give him a hard time because he's overweight, now I'm rubbing my eyes at the "too thin" comments.

So? Which is it, people?!

It isn't how much weight he lost, it's how quickly he lost so much weight that concerns me.

It is the dopey bow tie that makes him look older. He reminds me of the Six Flags old man.

skinny yes but looks 20 years older

Disagree. If anything, his hairline is less receding now. It's hard to get past the conditioning of our minds that pudgy faces and bulky bodies equal youthfulness when we encounter so many adolescents and young people that are overweight in our everyday lives.
Our perception of what is healthy has become distorted (as evidenced by jerkzilla"s comment) when in fact evidence bears out that thinking potential cardiac arrest or cancer victim, when we see overweight people, would be more accurate.

He looks like he's dying of cancer.

Good for him! Such a fast weight loss, amazing. I'm surprised it would come off that fast.

Reading up on him, I find that he had heart angioplasty in 2001, at the age of 43. I think the writing was on the wall for him.

Wishing him ongoing health and happiness.

Is there a way to have all the comments come out in reverse chronological order? I tried to change that setting in preference and am not been successful at all. I am the only one to have asked this question? I like to read the comment in the order they were posted not last comment first which is a stupid choice if you ask me. Please change my settings if you can.

Thanks

Did by preferences you mean the 'Show:Newest First/Oldest First' window just above this column on the left?

franzius   02:13 PM on 8/01/2010
Gavin, Thanks for the reply. The 'Show:Newest First/Oldest First' window must be used every time to change the order of the comments. In Account preference, there is the option to permanently determine what that order should be for all articles for all time. That option does not work. At least it does not seem to work for me.

Eh, I like Drew, and I'm happy for anyone that loses weight and maintains a healthier lifestyle. At least this is better than hearing about Lohan in jail or Britney without panties on.

Drew is looking good. The wrinkles caused by the weight loss are distinguishing.
