Obama Arms Exports

McClatchy:

WASHINGTON — The United States is currently the world biggest weapons supplier — holding 30 per cent of the market — but the Obama administration has begun modifying export control regulations in hopes of enlarging the U.S. market share, according to U.S. officials.

President Barack Obama already has taken the first steps by tucking new language into the Iran sanctions bill signed in early July. His aides are now compiling the "munitions list," which regulates the sale of military items.

The administration's stated reason for the changes is to simplify the sale of weapons to U.S. allies, but potential spinoffs include generating business for the U.S. defense industry, creating jobs and contributing to Obama's drive to double U.S. exports by 2015.

Who is this man? The Obama administration has begun modifying export control regulations in hopes of enlarging the U.S. market share, according to U.S. officials.

President Barack Obama already has taken the first steps...

Critics say the reforms are being rushed and warn that the expedited procedures could allow weapons technology to fall into the wrong hands.

This is great news! I'm about to move into one of those inner city neighborhoods and need all the firepower I can get to keep them crackheads at bay. Now I won't even need approval to sell guns to my white neighbors - America rocks, dude!!!

Wrong on this one, Mr. President. The world is already bristling with enough arms.

What a pathetic epitaph for our once great nation, ... that the final goods we made at the end were weapons we sold to the world.

How did the 60's song go? "What the world needs now, is guns, ... more guns, ... "

I have to say, there are a few things Obama does that I very much disagree with, and this is definitely one of them.

I like they guy, and for the most part I support him and his actions, but this activity is.... let's say "questionable" at best.

The private industry is not creating job. Where else do you think you can turn? The only thing anyone wants from us is our military hardware. Our cars can't compete with their fuel efficient cars. We no longer make stuff here in this country anymore. O is doing what's logical. Don't blame him.

Machiavelli's The Prince:

"Choosing good ministers is vital, because a ruler shows his intelligence in his choice of the men around him. If a man cannot have good ideas himself, he must be smart enough to distinguish his minister's good ideas from his bad ones."

"He should listen carefully, but make his own decisions and stick to them. A prince who is not wise can never get good counsel, unless he puts himself completely in the hands of a wise man; but such a man will soon take over his state."

Both Harvard and Washington have peculiar ideas of what constitutes intelligence versus wisdom. It appears our President has the former in spades, but is serious lacking in the other.
