Colorado Republicans Get The Maddow Treatment For Opposing Fracking Regulation (VIDEO)

Last week, the Colorado Independent reported on a letter from Colorado Republican legislators to the EPA advising the agency not to "stick its nose into the regulation of fracking or other oil and gas industry practices in states."

The EPA is currently conducting a study on the environmental repercussions of the natural gas drilling procedure known as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. Fracking involves injecting water, sand and chemicals--which energy companies have refused to identify-- into the earth at tremendous pressures to free up natural gas.

Citizens in areas where fracking has been practiced have raised concerns over potential water pollution as a result of the procedure.

Nonetheless, Colorado Republicans told the EPA that "Once the EPA completes its study, states should maintain jurisdiction over oil and gas operations."

Last night, fill-in host Christopher Hayes took the letter to task as part of a segment on the environmental concerns surrounding energy extraction.
