Miss Iowa Nationals Miguel Batista

MLB FanHouse:

When Miguel Batista had to make an emergency start on Wednesday for Stephen Strasburg, he was greeted by the Nationals faithful with boos. Even if it wasn't his fault, you could understand fans being angered about paying to see the young phenom Strasburg and ending up with the old Batista.

Batista's five-inning performance was very Strasburg-ian, but after the game he was asked about the boos he heard and inadvertently hurt the feelings of a lovely young lady in Iowa.

Agree with Miguel Batista's revised comments - Ms Iowa is gorgeous. While most of the state of Iowa may be flat, Ms Conners certainly is not.

Bautista should not be shooting his mouth off so close to the trade deadline. The Nationals could trade him to the Cardinals, and the Cardinals could ship him off to Davenport to play for the River Bandits and learn some manners.

He's paid to pitch and not be a public speaker. Good thing too, since the money would be poorly spent. Sounds like Strasburg is having arm problems. Nolan Ryan and other flamethrowers had problems in their early years, but then there's someone like Kerry Reed. Hope he's ok.

Are you referring to Kerry Wood who used to pitch for the Cubs? He is still pitching but is a relief pitcher now. A better reference would be Mark Prior who also pitched for the Cubs and is out of baseball due to arm trouble.
