Chelsea Clinton & Marc Mezvinsky Married (PHOTOS)

Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky were officially married on Saturday night. Former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton released this statement:

"Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day."

The Clintons also confirmed that Chelsea was wearing Vera Wang. Via WWD:

The bride double-dipped with Vera Wang, wearing an ivory strapless gown by the designer with a raw-edged laser-cut silk organza skirt for the interfaith ceremony and a silk tulle cross-back Grecian gown with a narrow grosgrain black belt for the reception. The former first daughter also tapped Wang, who was among the 400 guests, to design the bridesmaids' dresses, strapless bias-cut lavender chiffon gowns with a side drape and a contrasting plum bow.

Hillary was in Oscar de la Renta.

Several hours earlier, at around 5 p.m., guests began boarding the buses at the Delamater Inn for the wedding. They were whisked down River Road to the ceremony. According to the New York Times' Caucus blog, "the caravan also included three black cars and a van that one state trooper said held Hillary Rodham Clinton." Also according to the Times, the nuptials were set to begin around 6:30 p.m. and it was said to be an interfaith ceremony conducted by Rabbi James Ponet and Reverend William Shillady.

Take a look at images from the wedding. After you'll find some earlier shots of guests boarding the buses and of Astor Courts.

She made such a blushing bride!

Chelsea looked just gorgeous! The dress was fabulous and the dress wore her! She didn't wear the dress. I am very happy she found herself a nice substantial man. Jewish men often make very good husbands. Chelsea stood up well to the public transgressions she had to endure of her fathers. I wish for her a good strong committed relationship with this man. I wish we could see more pictures, but these were lovely. In this day and age with young people getting married and having kids too quick and ending up divorced, I am happy for people who do it right. From all appearances she has done it right and is a class act, in spite of what any detractors might say. She pulled this off like a Carolyn Kennedy, classy, educated and ready.

I have to disagree with your statement about her dress. It's insulting to say that the dress wore her. Is that what you meant? She was lovely and what I noticed first was her beautiful smile and eyes and the happiness of the moment. Her presence transcended her dress, beautiful as it was.

It is just a saying complimenting how great the dress fit and what a beautiful figure she has. It is not an insult in anyway. My two nieces got married last year. My mom made that comment about one of them, I didn't understand it exactly until I saw Chelsea.

my initial comment on the "quality" of the Clinton legacy was apparently not appreciated by the Huffpost censor. It's a shame that we have such censorship even here.

Why should one make a political comment when the story is about a wedding?
01:34 PM on 08/06/2010
because this is largely a political website. Go read Brides-R-Us if you want that nonsense. Also the Clintons and the Bushies are brothers in arms as America's "royal" families so it comes with the territory.

minor typo - ...they rarely marry outside their own...

I've been trying to do the math all weekend. 3 Million sure is a heck of a lot. US Presidents must make huge salaries.
04:12 PM on 08/03/2010
US Presidents get pretty small salaries, considering the job they are asked to do. But when they retire and the speaking engagements start, that is when the big money can roll in. Duh.

Both these young adults also work at prestigious firms, and probably make pretty good salaries, as well.
