SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The basketball court isn't the only place where Sacramento Kings player Tyreke Evans apparently likes to move fast.

A video released by the California Highway Patrol shows Evans speeding past vehicles on Interstate 80 in his purple Mercedes. CHP officers say he was driving 120 to 130 miles per hour.

The video of the 20-year-old NBA Rookie of the Year was shot from a plane on Memorial Day weekend.

After being stopped by police, Evans was arrested at gunpoint.

Authorities say the video offers evidence that Evans may have been racing another vehicle.

Attorneys say he pleaded no contest to reckless driving, was sentenced to 80 hours of community service, ordered to take part in teen driving programs and lost his license for 30 days.

He only lost his license for 30 days? I wonder what the guy driving the Charger got?

30 days in jail should be more like it.

I'm just glad he finally found a lane he could drive down.

Had he of killed someone (which was very possible) he would have been looking at serious prison time. I don't think this punishment will faze him, maybe we should look at traffic fines based on a percentage of income as some Scandinavian countries have.

It is clear that he is more of a scoring point guard rather than a pass-first point guard adept at using the passing lanes effectively.

I can point out at least 3 occasions when he could have changed to a different lane and passed that Charger. Then again, I have a vague suspicion that we are not discussing his free way lane changing techniques.

Hello to Mr. Evans; laws DO apply to you. You're lucky no one was killed during your joy ride.

All it takes is a second to go from community service to vehicular homicide. What a loser.

Glad this ended rather peacefully. At 120mph could have ended drastically worse.

Hopefully this young man will learn something from this stupid, need for speed.

At any second during this adventure, things could have gone horribly wrong.

That was a long chase and I think the Police was right... I have no complain.... Driver was reckless and Police has the right to pull out his gun for security reasons....

Why did it have to be at gun point...? I'm not normally one to bring race into issues where it's likely not a factor, but this did seem a bit suspicious to me. Maybe I'm spending too much time reading comments on this site, lol.

The officers used guns because Evans was racing at very high speeds and when pulled over the officers could not see into the vehicle because of the illegal window tinting.

A police officer can pull a gun anytime HE feels his life may be in danger. This is not a cowboy movie, you don't have to wait for the other guy to draw his gun first.
