Last night on the "Report" Stephen Colbert discussed the recently released cable news ratings which placed Fox News on top for its 100th consecutive month. Showing clips where Fox News boasts their winning numbers, Colbert said of the ratings, "I'm surprised they don't slap a blond wig on them and give them their own show."
There is one detail of the report that Fox News failed to mention, however: only 1.38% of their audience is African-American, while CNN and MSNBC's black viewership adds up closer to 20%. And recently, Fox's Greta Van Susteren was discussing congresswoman Maxine Waters and accidentally showed footage of Shirley Sherrod. Colbert defended the network saying, "It could have happened to anyone... whose producers can't tell black people apart."
To help Fox News tap into its African-American demographic, Colbert brought on his Senior Black Viewer P.K. Winsome (Tim Meadows). P.K. had some interesting to ideas to help not just Fox News, but "The Colbert Report" retain its black viewers.
