The Most BEAUTIFUL Campuses (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 08/05/10 09:05 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:15 PM ET

For their 2010 college rankings, the Princeton Review didn't just survey students to find out how happy they were or how much they party -- they also asked them to rate the aesthetic appeal of their campuses.

Some of the campuses traditionally regarded as the most stunning -- Stanford, University of Virginia -- are missing from this year's list. Click through to see which schools made the cut -- and see the Princeton Review for more information.

What do you think? Do these schools strike you as glorious places to study? What was your own school like? Join in the discussion below.

Good job. Sewanee deserves to be #1. If you haven't been here, you don't know.

Happy to see Mount Holyoke College among the most beautiful. With two lakes and gorgeous architecture and landscaping, it's truly idyllic. Apparently it hasn't changed much since I graduated in '72. Young women, think about applying. The standards are high, creativity and individuality are valued, and as part of the 5-college area, there's plenty of opportunity for socializing.

Seconded. Advice to HuffPo: have pictures on hand that actually prove your point before making your point.

I hate to break it to you, but that picture of Florida Southern University is not beautiful. Sure the fountain is nice and the palm trees are pretty. That building? Not so much.

What's with College of the Holy Cross? It's a football picture. I looked up pictures of the campus and it is beautiful. You would not know that by the picture.

If you want beautiful campuses look at Wash U and SLU in St. Louis. Both are top universities and beautiful architecturally. They're nice to see as the seasons change as well. Both are next to Forest Park. SLU is in the Central West End and it's known as kind of a party area with a lot of apartment buildings. There is a lot of great architecture around it as well.

Actually, that photo of Florida Southern is not current. That plaza has been replaced with a restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright's Waterdome and the building was painted. See here:

I attended Lewis & Clark College and it is a very beautiful campus. The weather is a detriment however because it rains so often in the winter. Nice to see the small random colleges represented in these articles, though.

The University of San Diego is by far one of the most beautiful campuses I've ever seen...and I have seen A LOT. It is absolutely pristine and feels like more of an upscale estate/country club. Keep on the look out for this school in the future...it's rising and rising...

The choices were a little surprising to me.

NYU does not have its own enclosed campus like most of the schools but it has the entire city of New York to explore. You're just a few minutes away from museums, exhibits, restaurants,, free concerts, shows & what-have-you. Take a stroll around Central Park, spend the day at Seaport, local bookstore. Or do volunteer work at the soup kitchen or civic center, tutor kids.

I have to put a vote in for my Alma Mater...St. Bonaventure University. Nestled in the heart of the "enchanted mountains" in southwestern New York. Terrific brick buildings...spectacular autumns.
