Gregg Williams Takes Aim At Brett Favre

Defensive Mastermind Warns Brett Favre

Brett Favre is under heavy fire this week for the latest installment of his retirement flip-flopping. New Orleans Saints defensive mastermind Gregg Williams is the latest to take aim at Favre.

Williams is promising a very physical game when the Saints play the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL season opener in September. The defensive coordinator singled out Favre: "We have to send messages to every offense about how physical it's going to be when they play us. Those messages are out there, starting with No. 4," he said, alluding to Favre's jersey number.

Vikings players, specifically defensive end Jared Allen, shrugged off Williams' comments.

"Those are just meathead comments. You know what, it is what it is. People trying to get their team fired up," Allen said. "At the end of the day people are going to talk with their pads and we'll see how things happen down in New Orleans."

Favre reportedly told his teammates on Tuesday that he was retiring, but denied it the next day and said he has not made up his mind yet.
