To raise money for a beloved local charity, 102 British thrill seekers took off on a naked roller coaster ride today. The group rode the 'Green Scream' ride at Southend-on-Sea in England.
The riders can now claim the world record for naked roller coaster riding, a title previously held by a group of 32 British people, who took a naked ride in Staffordshire in 2004.
The daring clothing-free ride was undertaken to raise funds for Bosom Pals, a local breast cancer support group at the Southend Hospital. The riders came from all over the U.K. to participate in the charity challenge. According to The Daily Mail, many of them were moved to help cancer patients because of their personal experiences coping with cancer or watching loved ones struggle with the disease.
The Daily Mail reports,
[Barbara Warner of Bosom Pals] added the appeal 'would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who was brave enough to bare all and raise such a huge amount of cash -- more than £22,000 [$35,000] -- for our vitally important cause.'
