15 Best Artificial Beaches In The World (PHOTOS, POLL)

First Posted: 08/09/10 09:01 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:15 PM ET

Unfortunately, not everyone can have the luxury of experiencing a day at the beach. But for those bound in some remote, landlocked location there's hope! If you can't go to the beach, then you'll just have to have the beach brought to you. These man-made coasts are some of the most expensive beach get-aways you'll find. So here they are, our top 15, an admittedly synthetic alternative to the real thing, but better than no beach at all. (Add your choices to the slideshow!)

Holy smoke! Copenhagen doesn't have an artificial beach, it has a giant above ground pool! By these standards, Mississippi has tons of mini-beaches inland. :)

They left out Waikiki? I guess it's soooo convincing that they didn't realize it's not a "real" beach.

Definately the Seine in Paris. Wonderful weather in August and fewer people than most of the year. My kids love the carnival.

I thought everyone has concluded that the Palm Islands and the World in Dubai were a big colossal bust at this point? It's not like you can actually go outside and some of them are sinking or bankrupt.

That Japanese indoor beach is just creepy. Reminds me of the Truman Show.

There are some hardy palms and even some banana trees that would grow in the ground in
Paris, in fact I think they have hardy palms all over Disney World Europe.

And most of the beach in Dubai is probably private and I"ve heard is too hot and saline to be comfortable.

I remember way back when the Mississippi Gulf Coast used to have a great beach! Not many people know it was (and may well still be) the largest artificial beach in the World.
