EXHIBITION SPOTLIGHT: Miranda July's Interactive Sculptures On Display In Union Square

WHO: Miranda July

WHAT: 'Eleven Heavy Things'

WHERE: Union Square Park
Center Lawn, New York, NY

WHEN: May 2 - October 3, 2010

WHY: Because Miranda July never ceases to capture our imaginations.

'Eleven Heavy Things,' a series of interactive sculptures, was conceived of by Polymath artist, filmmaker, and writer Miranda July. The pieces invite viewers to mount inscribed pedestals, stand under elaborate headdresses and insert their limbs into holes. When viewers photograph their interactions and share them in blogs and emails, the participants become the subject of the work.

'Eleven Heavy Things' is presented by Union Square Partnership, NYC Parks & Recreation, and Deitch Archive.

Exhibition Spotlight is an at-a-glace look at an artist's work we think you should know about.
