Lady Gaga's on a flight right now on the way to Los Angeles, but before she got on board she checked in with Ryan Seacrest on 102.7 FM to talk Prop 8, her Lollapalooza stage dive, and the effect celibacy has on her creativity. We have to give props to Seacrest for using the word "cumulonimbus" in an interview with a pop star, and big ups to Gaga for only letting one F-bomb drop during the morning show interview.
Seacrest knows his listeners: his first question was about the gold star pasties and fishnets costume she was wearing when she stage-dived at Lollapalooza: "When you were out there in the crowd, you were almost in nothing. Were you worried?"
Gaga responded, "I was standing there with Lady Starlight. She was like, 'Can you imagine if you jumped into the crowd?' And I said 'F*ck It!' and I just jumped." Seacrest laughed and said, "One of the great things about you is that you live in the moment and you're unfiltered, and I like that. I just have to have my finger on the [bleep] button." Gaga apologized and suggested "you need to wear a radio condom" when talking to her.
Gaga also talked the rush of creativity she felt after hearing the recent Prop 8 verdict. "Oh my gosh, I felt like it was a revolution, a gunshot went off... I was so happy, I went running to the studio and kept writing. I know I told everybody my album is done, and it kind of is done, but I can't stop writing music so I don't even know what I'm going to do. I might have to put out two records."
Seacrest broached the celibacy topic by couching the question in a compliment: "It sounds like you've still got that cumulonimbus cloud of creativity that you've always had, and I know you've expressed your fear of losing it by having sex. So it sounds like that's still all within you." Gaga quipped, "well, I guess that's a pretty good indication" [that she's still celibate].
Fans can expect an epic show this week at the Staples Center. Gaga promises, "The show is my opus, it's my great opus. It's really just a beautifully strange, other-worldly experience. It's really not like going to a pop concert. It's really just like going to a party. It's this just huge party of 20,000 people, jumping and sweating and covered in glitter, listening to amazing, amazing dance beats."
