13 Childrens' Book Illustrators Auction Original Art To Support Dave Eggers 826 Reading Program (PHOTOS)

Mo Willems, Dan Yaccarino, Dan Santat And 13 Other Illustrators Give 'Eyewitness Reports' Of A Fictional Event (PHOTOS)

"Eyewitness Reports" is a charity auction of 37 pieces of original art by some of the best children's book artists today. The auction proceeds will benefit 826LA, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit writing and tutoring center fronted by a fully-functioning convenience store for time travelers.

The art auction is inspired by the picture book "Oh No! (Or how My Science Project Destroyed the World)", written by Mac Barnett and illustrated by Dan Santat, which tells the story of an overambitious little girl who builds a giant robot for a science fair. When the robot goes on a rampage, it's up to the girl to stop it.

37 amazing picture book artists created their own illustrative interpretation of Mac's story and filled out a police report as if the events in the book had actually occurred. The first auction begins August 23rd followed by a second auction August 30th. Visit www.theeyewitnessreports.com.
