PHOTOS: Azerbaijan's Stylish First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva And Her Serious Heels

First Posted: 08/19/2010 1:40 pm   Updated: 05/25/2011 5:20 pm

We love a First Lady with a strong sense of style, and Azerbaijan's Mehriban Aliyeva is just that. We recently spotted her alongside Georgia's First Lady Sandra Roelofs and we decided to take another look at Mehriban's style. Her mostly monochromatic ensembles are accentuated by some of the most serious high heels we've seen. Perhaps even more serious than Princess Letizia's sky-high stilettos. Take a look at some of Mehriban's best looks and tell us which heels you love the most.

Her shoes are nice. The shoes are by YSL.... Tribute Pumps..$750 to $895 depending on the exotic skin or type of leather used.

She is fierce. I appreciate them all but I love the one of her in France with Mdm Chiroc. It's just that overall look works for my sensibilities: dark hair, chic but dramatic up-do, gloves, sumptuous looking fabric.

I love to see a woman in heels. If I hear a pair clicking off in the distance it draws my attention.

Beautiful lady. Horrid shoes, besides what they're doing to her feet.

Based on some of these comments, it's easy to understand how Americans are easily identified while travelling abroad. Other than being loud and obnoxious, they have no fashion style.

I can understand about loud and obnoxious, but who cares how someone else might dress and why? Why does it matter if Americans have fashion sense?

oh so that's what corruption buys - a whole bunch of TACKY, stripper shoes and all.

I'm surprised by people's lack of fashion knowhow. Granted it's a matter of taste, but these platform heels are very high fashion in europe. Here in sweden, they are standard on every fashionable girl and woman on the street. You barely see anything else on the streets, workplaces, restaurants etc. They look very good and are something new compared to the usual heels which have looked the same since the 1980's.

I adore fashion and appreciate style. What I see from most of the criticisms here is not a lack of fashion know-how, but regarding the apparent poor judgment of HuffPo in showcasing the first lady of a regime that is widely recognized as corrupt. And I can't dispute that.

I disagree, especially when more than half the comments go out to label the shoes as 'stripper' shoes. Just read through and see what i mean. Style has to change. We cant look like we did in the 1980s or, even worse, in the 1990s. Since this is the style section, we are talking about style. If she was posted in the politics or world sections, we would discuss the regime for the corrupt nature it is.

None of them. Has she not tried Chinese Foot Binding yet. Style? More like vain torture.

Those shoes are rediculous, we'll all be laughing our heads off in a few years looking at these photos. Again, probably designed by men to make women suffer.

mm conspiracies... I think they make the ladies shoes smaller than the guys on purpose - that way their feet don't grow as much and they can stand closer to the sink.
