After Tiger Woods, Sarah Palin and Justin Bieber, it seemed like only a matter of time before it happened to Blago.

And lo and behold, on Thursday, Next Media Animation released its CGI rendition of the Illinois governor's corruption, trial and verdict. (Scroll down to watch.)

As is often the case with NMA re-enactments (like the one of Tiger Woods' car crash that popularized the genre), it's both accurate and surreal, with a healthy dose of silliness. And all of the best details are in there: the contemplated Oprah appointment, the "Celebrity Apprentice" run, the excessive profanity and of course the hair.

The video, complete with Chinese narration and wacky sound effects, captures in a glorious 90 seconds the bizarre carnival atmosphere that the Blagojevich scandal has had for the last twenty months. (Hat tip to Chicagoist for bringing this gem to our attention.)

The rising Chinese are making fun of our corrupt, failing governance as our forefathers made hay showing off the failings of the British Crown. Benjamin Franklin infuriated the great Edward Gibbon by offering to meet with him to elucidate on the subject of corrupt monarchy. We are now receiving the same medicine that we once served.

Should we be surprised that China takes our news and makes it into cartoons? I think not, they learned how to make our pathetic journalism even worse. Congratulations and welcome to the future where the news is made for laughs to lure more advertisers.
