Alberto Gonzales: Don't Repeal The 14th Amendment

Most recently, some politicians and concerned citizens have expressed a desire to amend the 14th Amendment of our Constitution, which says in Section 1, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." Proponents want to discourage undocumented mothers from crossing our borders to give birth to children derogatorily referred to as "anchor babies," who by law are American citizens. Such a change is difficult to carry out, as it should be, requiring a new amendment ratified by three-quarters of the states. I do not support such an amendment.

This whole situation would not have reached this point if the feds would have read the constitution and followed it. Nobody is talking about repealing the 14th Amendment. Mexico would like very much for American hispanics to think we are, but they are only talking about reinterpreting it. They are afraid we will look at it and interpret it NOT to allow people who come here without permission to give the gifrt of citizenship to thier children.
Since Mexico has a policy that any of their citizens who become Americans to retain Mexican citizenship it makes good sence not to give amnesty or birthright citizenship to illegals. After all, what are they playing at?
And Mr Gonzales is a fine example of what we will get with those dual citizens- people who respect the law only if they want to use it as a weapon and shill for the country they are really loyal to, and that is not the US.
Gonzo was a crook and a liar as Attorny General and he has not changed a bit.
What is that LaRaza phrase? "Everything for the Race, nothing for outsiders"?

A lot of people outside of Arizona support either a revision or a reinterpretation of the jus soli portion of the 14th also. So you are definitely NOT alone. I live in Los Angeles need I say more!

This whole situation would not have reached this point if the feds would have read the constitution and followed it. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction." This says that judge Bolton had no juridsdiction nor did any court lower than the SC. In other words, the Judge in the Arizona case has absolutely no Constitutional jurisdiction over the matter upon which she ruled. As the Constitution makes abundantly clear, only the U.S. Supreme Court can issue rulings that involve a state.

Weird article, he gives no reasoning. Pretty much just says that it would be better to pass immigration reform laws than amend the Constitution.

Anyway, why do we care what Gonzalez thinks anymore than Rummy, or Palin ... ?
