Joliet Area Historical Museum To Get Vintage Tommy Gun For Exhibit

"We'll have a lot of interesting items, but the Tommy gun is one of the coolest," said Heather Bigeck, the museum's collections and exhibitions manager. "I think people will be excited when they see it."

The Thompson submachine gun -- a fully automatic, .45-caliber weapon -- has become a symbol of the Prohibition Era, when it was used by gangsters and G-men alike.
