Political Cartoonist Blasts Intelligence Chief James Clapper For Altering His Work Without Permission

Cartoonist BLASTS Obama Intel Chief For Altering Work

Political cartoonist Daryl Cagle is hitting out at the head of the intelligence community, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, after it emerged that Clapper altered one of Cagle's cartoons in a presentation without his permission.

Cagle had drawn a cartoon of Uncle Sam driving a car, with children all around him asking "are we there yet?" In a PowerPoint presentation that was witnessed by the Washington Post, Clapper turned Uncle Sam into a man labeled "Clapper," inserted the words "Leading the IC: A Re-Set" on the bumper and put "DNI" on the license plate of the car.

In a blog post, Cagle blasted Clapper for altering his work without permission:

"What happened to the Obama Administration's professed respect for copyrights? There is little more offensive to an editorial cartoonist than to have his cartoon stolen and altered to make a different point."
