Roy Blunt: Building NYC Mosque Is Just As Offensive As Dr. Laura Dropping The N-Word (AUDIO)

BLUNT Talk: Congressman Compares Mosque To Dropping The N-Word

Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), who is running for the state's U.S. Senate seat against Democrat Robin Carnahan, yesterday went on The McGraw Show on St. Louis' KTRS and condemned plans to build an Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero by saying it was "just as inappropriate" as the racial tirade that recently cost Dr. Laura her radio show.

Rep. Blunt: There are lots of things that the constitution allows you to do that you shouldn't do. You can say lots of things in our country, and a lot of them shouldn't be said. In fact, some big radio personality just had to cancel her, end her 20 year radio career because she said things that were constitutionally okay to say, but highly inappropriate, and the mosque is also just as inappropriate.

Last week, Blunt's campaign also received national attention for putting up an ad criticizing Carnahan for not opposing the Islamic cultural center. Her words were played over an image of the smoldering World Trade Center. After a St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter inquired about the ad, the campaign immediately took it down and explained it "didn't reflect the right tone." Another ad eventually went up that had pictures of Carnahan with President Obama instead. We contacted Blunt's campaign for comment/clarification on his remarks, but we did not hear back.
