Jeff Probst To Present Award At Emmys Following Snub

'Survivor' Host To Present At Emmys After Snub

After protesting that he had been snubbed from the main Emmy telecast, "Survivor" host Jeff Probst will now present an award at Sunday's ceremony, Variety reports (registration required).

Probst and other reality show hosts had complained after the award for best reality host was moved from the main ceremony to the less-noticed Creative Arts ceremony, which took place on Saturday.

"It's disappointing news," Probst said when the award was moved to the less-noticed ceremony. "Collectively, this category represents several of the highest-rated and most popular shows on all of television."

During Saturday's ceremony, Probst won for the third time. Now, he will present this coming Sunday and be recognized for his Emmy win.

Variety explains the significance of the presenter slot:

By giving Probst a presenter slot, the Acad is mirroring what it does with the guest actor and actress categories. Those Emmys are also handed out during the Creative Arts show, but the guest thesp nominees are still mentioned during the Primetime Emmys, as the winners are brought out onstage to hand out an award.

In giving Probst a Primetime Emmy showcase, the Academy is also acknowledging that the host and his fellow reality nominees front some of TV's most popular series -- and are better known and watched by more viewers than contenders in many of the other categories.
