Buckeye Bullet

wired.com:

Topping 307 mph is an amazing feat in any vehicle. It's even more so when the vehicle in question is a student-built electric vehicle.

The Venturi Buckeye Bullet built by students at Ohio State University achieved an average speed of 307.7 mph during a two-run pass at the Bonneville Salt Flats on Tuesday.

Then they go out into the private sector, where the financial system is not interested in funding smart people to accomplish great things, so they wind up working on things that increase the efficiency with which businesses can exploit the environment and reduce payroll.

Excellent. Now, don't let the big $$$$ buy it off of you so that they can "kill" it like has been done with all previous electric renditions (or any improvements for that matter from our fossil fuel history).

The headline is supposed to be, what? Electric or eclectic?

Is it hydrogen combustion or electric powered?
04:06 PM on 08/26/2010
The previous incarnation was powered by hydrogen PEM cells. Then they swapped the fuel cell stack for LiFePO4 cells in the same vehicle. This speed record is for the battery-powered configuration. Either way, it's electric drive with a dragster-type slip clutch.
