Olbermann Interviews Ex-Girlfriend Katy Tur (VIDEO)

Thanks to a breaking story and sheer chance, Keith Olbermann wound up interviewing his ex-girlfriend on Wednesday's "Countdown."

That evening, the biggest story in the news concerned Michael Enright, the man who stabbed a cabdriver because he was Muslim. It turned out that Katy Tur, who is a reporter for WNBC in New York, had been in close contact with Enright for weeks. She had spoken to him five times and traded emails with him, all about a documentary that he had made about soldiers in Afghanistan.

Tur had also dated Olbermann, although Mediaite reports that the pair split over a year ago.

"The first time I spoke to this guy, I was struck by how incredibly polite he was," Tur told Olbermann. "He was 'yes, ma'am,' 'no, ma'am,' very polite on the phone."

Olbermann closed the interview by calling Tur his "dear friend."

not a huge fan of Keith and I kind of had the same thoughts that supergenions and Angione had...I do think Keith tends to cover stories in a "fair and balanced" manner for the most part with just a slight bit more of cynicism and sardonic humor....Having Luis Guitierrez visit his show always brings a breath of fresh air to the immigration reform conversation!

I saw this earlier and didn't know that Katy was Keith's ex at the time -- I thought she was very articulate and intelligent - Keith has always had a lot of class. It was a great story and as usual, Keith interviewed smart people with good information and had a great analysis. Keep up the good work Keith!

Keith can attract young, pretty girls. I have spoken to many younger females who say they would love to date him. I think he prefers cute girls with some intellect though so that would eliminate many that I know.
