Will Forte To Leave 'SNL': A Look Back At His Funniest Sketches (VIDEOS)

First Posted: 8/26/10   Updated: 5/25/11

After eight seasons and his very own "MacGruber" movie under his belt, Will Forte announced today that he's leaving "Saturday Night Live" to pursue other opportunities. While we're sad to see such a solid cast member leave the show, we have no doubt that Forte will continue making us laugh in other movies and TV shows in the future. His departure also brings up the question of who will replace him, but before we start speculating over who the new cast member will be, let's take a minute to remember all of Forte's hilarious 'SNL' moments. So sit back, relax, put on Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You," and check out these 9 hilarious 'SNL' sketches featuring the one and only WIll Forte. Don't forget to vote for your favorite!

Of all the recent SNL sketches, I thought Tim Calhoun was the one to flesh out into a movie. That had loads more potential than MacGruber.

But where was the coach's pep talk? THOSE were the funniest, because they always played on the guest's sport (Payten Manning, Michael Phelps, etc.) as the coach would play music to get the team ready to play, but always had something really inappropriate. Very funny.

Gilly was stupid.

Good riddance. I've never wanted to punch myself in the face before...not until I saw the Tim Calhoun skit.

Just one of an increasing number of SNL with so little talent, that I have to assume they are related to NBC execs.

I never did think Will was funny. I actually stopped watching it every single Saturday after Dana Carvey left. Now, I just watch it whenever I'm having a sleepless Saturday night. I really miss Dana Carvey and...Crap! I can't think of that guy's name who was Wayne in wayne's world!!! Awww man! Talk about brain farts!

You missed a whole lot of good stuff. And Dana Carvey really hasn't been funny since leaving SNL.

Never heard of him. I predict a future of few movies and a return to obscurity

If you've never heard of him then you haven't watched SNL for the last 6-7 years and if that's the case then why would you put your stupid un-informed opinion in here. Seriously.

What about the Women's History Month song??? that was pretty funny! I loved him and Jason S. in the ESPN clips

Ah what a bummer. Love Will and wish him the best of luck. Gilly, MacGruber and anything where he sung was great, but favorite still has to be the lockeroom skit. Tears of laughter the first time I watched it.

Not the one where he's in a group of business executives, constantly sing-song-y saying "Carol, hold my calls!"

Gotta be MacGruber. Too bad the movie was a bomb.

can't think of a time he made me laugh out loud, but the ESPN sketches evoked a slight snicker

I somehow watched all 9 clips. Never laughed once. Nothing funny here at all -- what's wrong with the kids today? Jeez, SNL used to be funny. I don;' mean just the first 1 or 2 years, but most of the time until about a year ago. What an embarrassment.

They should look into hiring funny writers. I've seem some great performers on the show stuck with a whole lotta nuthin when it comes a script.

Spelling Bee is awesome! I also love the locker room speech with Will and Peyton Manning.
