Spelling Manor In Holmby Hills Finally On The Market

First Posted: 09/04/10 04:23 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:35 PM ET

Via RealEstalker: We wrote about Candy Spelling's magnificent manor last year, when she first announced that she was selling it for a whopping $150,000,000 - and that she was willing to wait instead of lowering the asking price. True to her word, the Spelling Manor officially hit the open market yesterday with the original asking price.

The home has 56,500 square feet of living space on a 4.69 acre lot. In addition to the fourteen bedrooms and twenty-seven bathrooms, the manor also boasts a billiards room, bowling alley, arcade room, flower cutting room, pool, tennis courts, and servants quarters.

The interior is rather dated, looks just like my Grandmother's home, and my Grandma passed away in 1991.

Wow! What staggering evidence that "taste" and "money" can be polar opposites.

Why not bequeath the home to her children and grandchildren? Keep the wealth in the family for future generations. Surely this home is paid off with all the money Aaron Spelling made, and the residuals would pay the taxes and up keep?

I don't know about anyone else, but I think it's just too big to feel homey? no?

The outside of the house is nice. The inside is kind of creepy. But what is to be expected? We are talking about a woman who convinced her billionaire husband with Alzheimers to screw his daughter out of a decent inheritance. Her lack of a soul is reflected in this buildings lack of being a home.

I'm guessing the only 10 people in the world who could afford it already have homes.

For $150 million, I was shocked not to see an indoor ice rink, indoor basetball court or James Bond villian style shark tank listed as an amenity. And for that kind of loot it would not be out of line for Candy to throw in a Bugatti Veyron supercar or two, a G5 jet, a beacfhfront mansion in Malibu and a chateau in Paris to sweeten the deal...and a copy of Sarah Palin's book for the closer.
