Terry Goddard Targets Jan Brewer Over Beheaded Bodies Flop In New Campaign Ad (VIDEO)

Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard is taking aim at Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer for making the false suggestion that law enforcement officials in the Grand Canyon State have turned up "beheaded" bodies in addressing crime related to illegal immigration.

Brewer admitted she "misspoke" in reciting the debunked claim last week, and now, Goddard, a Democrat challenging the incumbent governor, is out with a new campaign ad attempting to capitalize on the major flop.

The message from Goddard's camp:

Back in June, Jan Brewer made multiple false statements about beheadings in Arizona. These fear-mongering comments hurt Arizona as we were already struggling with high unemployment and lagging tourism. Now that her debate-night debacle has revived these irresponsible allegations, Brewer is backtracking and claiming she meant the beheadings were in the "border region" rather than Arizona. Once again, Jan Brewer is not telling the truth.

The AP reports:

Brewer apparently first referred to beheadings during a June 16 interview with Fox News, talking about "the kidnappings and the extortion and the beheadings and the fact that people can't feel safe in their community" in discussing controversy surrounding the immigration law.

She went further in a June 27 interview on Phoenix television station KPNX when asked about the earlier beheadings claim.

"Oh, our law enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert, either buried or just lying out there, that have been beheaded," Brewer said.

After the repeated misstatements proved to be a major stumbling block for Brewer in a televised debate last week, the Arizona Governor signaled she's done with participating in gubernatorial debates against Goddard this election season.
