Police are investigating the weekend shooting death of a 14-year-old girl from Highwood in North Chicago.
Adriana Avila, of the 0-99 block of Walker Avenue in Highwood, was shot once in the chest at a home in the 1500 block of Victory Avenue, said Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller. She was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
