Dan Maes Takes To Youtube To Discuss Campaign Controversies (VIDEO)

Dan Maes released a Youtube video on Thursday in which the struggling GOP nominee for governor gives his take on the issues that have plagued his campaign of late.

Addressing allegations that he embellished his record as a police officer in Liberal, Kansas, Maes claims that he was fired for assisting the Kansas Bureau of Investigation in a gambling investigation. He compared his plight to that of Cory Voorhis, the ICE agent who was accused of sharing classified information with a Republican campaign.

"Much like Cory Voorhis was trapped between a rock and a hard place, there I was a young police officer that... I think found myself in the wrong place," Maes said.

Regarding Freda Poundstone, Maes admitted to mistakes in the way he handled a $300-dollar donation from the former supporter and long-time GOP activist.

"We made a mistake. We apologized. But now, it's time to move on, and it's no time to let the media manipulate the situation into something more than it was," Maes urged.

Maes also denied that he's ever exaggerated his record as a businessman.
