Van Der Sloot: I 'Feel Guilty' For Everything

In an exclusive new interview, Joran Van Der Sloot admits to feeling "guilty" about everything that happened over the past five years, including the extortion of $25,000 from the family of missing U.S. teen Natalee Holloway.

However, the 23-year-old Dutch murder suspect stopped short of revealing any further details in the Holloway and Stephany Flores Ramirez cases, the latter for which he is currently awaiting trial in Peru.

"For everything that happened since 2005 -- all the things said in the media, everything -- I feel guilty for it," Van Der Sloot said from prison in the interview, excerpts of which were broadcast on NBC's Today show. "It's a whole web of problems, but I created all of them myself."

Though he initially confessed to the murder of Ramirez, he has since retracted the confession and continues to insist that it had been coerced. "People were paying me to make up stories, and I was really good at making at stories ... I misused the situation for my own advantage," he said. "If I could change that, I would take it back, for sure." When pressed for clarification, however, he would only note, "It's not in my best interests to talk about [the cases] at all."
