Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, begins Wednesday night at sunset. It's a time of celebrating the possibilities of the coming year, and begins the holiest week in the Jewish calendar, concluding eight days later with Yom Kippur.

It's also traditionally a time for a celebratory meal. And if you're feeling like having that celebration without having to do the dishes -- or if you'd just like to get a taste of some traditional Jewish foods this week -- a handful of Chicago restaurants have prepared special Rosh Hashanah prix-fixe menus.
