Tim Gunn: Conde Nast Would Be Well-Served By Straitjackets (VIDEO)

First Posted: 09/08/2010 8:02 am Updated: 05/25/2011 5:35 pm

Tim Gunn continued his media book tour for "Gunn's Golden Rules" talking to Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show" about Anna Wintour. Gunn mentioned the now-infamous stair anecdote, but insisted he wasn't going after her character. Although he then added, "Conde Nast, 4 Times Square, would be well-served by having lots of straitjackets around." He explained that individuals like Wintour are "surrounded by great enablers," adding, "when you live in the monkey house, you don't realize it stinks."

What was the show he did giving women makeovers? And was Heidi Klum also involved in that? I wish he'd do more of those.

As a general rule, I don't watch reality shows. Project Runway is the exception, thanks to Tim Gunn. I can ignore the general drama part and enjoy the creativity as long as Tim brings his effortless style and kindness to the show. Hooray for Tim! His presence brings sincerity to the pretentiousness of the rest of the show.

Next he should go that drama queen Mizrahi. I understand he's just terrible.

i love tim gunn. i know very little about fashion but I learn a lot from his PR workroom visits. he's also very kind to the designers on the show ... but on the very rare occasion when he dresses someone down (like wretchin) he just hones right in. poor poor wintour--having tim gunn say that she doesn't know how to work a manolo must've made all the blood rush from her pointy head. you know some poor toady paid dearly that day.

I want to see a column co-written by Tim Gunn and Chris Kelly.  Oh, BOY would that be delicious!

Forget that lightweight Meghan McCain, Tim Gunn's book is the one I want. Good stuff! (Love ya, Tim!)

I wish everyone would stand up to that old hag anna wintour. that woman has singlehandedly destroyed US Vogue.

My fiance and I watch Project Runway every week...it's a great show, I must say, and Tim is fantastic on it...he's very warm, comforting and witty.

Tim definitely tells it like it is. Shocking in the fashion industry where fear runs rampant.

I don't exactly agree. Although I like him very much, I think he's not especially witty. He's tries hard--sometimes too hard, in my humble opinion--to articulate intelligently. His real gift is his compassion and decency.

Love Tim Gunn - the most stylish and classy man in America! And someone who seems like a really nice, fun guy. I love his advice to the designers on Project Runway, and that he stands his ground, even against the frequently ludicrous decisions of the judges. His design sense is nearly infallible and his concern for the contestants is obvious.
