Arnold Schwarzenegger Mocks Sarah Palin On Twitter (PICTURE)

First Posted: 09/10/10 10:48 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:35 PM ET

While flying to Asia last night, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger took some time to poke fun at Sarah Palin via Twitter. As you can see from his tweet below, Schwarzenegger flew over Anchorage, Alaska and failed to see Russia, which Palin infamously said she could see from her house* during the 2008 presidential election. He also included a photo of himself looking for country out of his plane's window, below. Although the reference is two years stale, at least we know now that Schwarzenegger is hip to all the best Palinisms.

*Palin didn't in fact say she could see Russia "from her house." The direct quote from Palin's interview with ABC was: "They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska." We regret the confusion.

GEORGIA ON HER MIND
Palin's Russia faux pas was an attempt to impress a TV interviewer with her expertise in
foreign policy in 2008. What she said reflected the views of her chief foreign policy adviser,
Randy Scheunemann, who also happened to be a registered lobbyist for the former soviet bloc
country, Georgia.  Anyone remember that famous Charlie Gibson interview when he  Read More...

At least he has a good sense of humor and he pays for his own plane. I seriously doubt the next governor will cover the costs of the plane themselves.

The next time he flies over Alaska he should drop pamphlets, like the US Military did in Iraq.

"Palin infamously said she could see from her house"
Anything to continue the attacks, right HP? WTG, you've proven ignorance rules.
Palin did not in fact say that, and you damn well know it, yet of course you let it stay there to encourage ignorance and stupidity.

That said:
Not to defend Palin, or to attack the Governator, but Palin was, essentially correct.  Of course, in Anchorage, you wouldn't see much of anything but mountains and beautiful snow (in the winter time). Further out , definitely. There ARE places in Alaska where you can, in fact see Russia from land.

The one spot in Alaska from where you can see Russian land is the west coast of Little Diomede Island. On a clear day, you can see across the two mile straight to the coast of Big Diomede, which is in Russia.

The Diomedes are quite remote and isolated. Communication with the outside world is done sporadically, mostly by helicopter (weather permitting), which is why I think this would be an excellent place for Palin to retire early and soon.

I remember that interview with Palin and how it made me very uncomfortable watching it. We all should remember to keep her Russia comment in the larger context so that ultimately the context itself is what matters and the accuracy of the exact words she said are moot. What is nowhere near moot is that that was her answer to a very, very important question: "Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials?"

Remember, Palin was running to be Vice President of the U.S. and would be doing exactly what Joseph Biden is doing today - flying around the world working on international relations with foreign countries, some less friendly to the U.S. than others.

Here is the clip of that much watched Palin interview with Katie Couric: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nokTjEdaUGg

I fully agree that the context of the interview should be remembered, I just can't stand media lies to discredit someone else. In this case, it was a very clear attack at Palin. While she's not the brightest individual out there, really she doesn't need that.

As far as the job of the VP, that's pretty much a ceremonial gig, no real "job" there, unless the pres dies, which might just have been a good reality with McCain (tho he's still around), or the Senate is tied in a vote. Other than that, it really just just ceremonial.

Okay, now, that's just ignoring the facts. The Gov. is not a dumb man. He may be on the wrong side politically, most of the time, but he is intelligent. His estimated I.Q. is about 135. Not in the genius range, true, but nothing to sneeze at, either.

Perhaps. But he should use that I.Q.

Here's an example: Look at Bobby Jindal. He's a Rhodes Scholar. But he advocates policies that are not good for the United States in these current times, unless we like the financial disaster that has affected every aspect of our lives.

We really shouldn't go down any more than we have, it makes us a weak country. I'm sure we don't think the "Great Depression" was "good ol days".

That is what I mean't by the "dumb coin".

Btw. he is traveling to China, South Korea and Japan where he will ride their high-speed trains. He and the California High-Speed Rail Authority are there in order to win public and private investors that will fund high-speed rail in California.

Let's hope that it becomes reality whatever his politics. Having traveled to Japan and in Europe I have to say we are way behind in the use of mass transportation. I realize that "necessity is the mother of invention" but shouldn't we have realized awhile back that a huge amount of energy can be saved with high tech trains
