Penelope Cruz Pregnant! She & Javier Expecting First Baby

MADRID — A Spanish agency that represents Penelope Cruz says the Oscar-winning Spanish actress is pregnant.

The Madrid-based agency Kuranda says in a statement that 36-year-old Cruz is four-and-a-half months pregnant.

Cruz has no children. She married Spanish actor Javier Bardem, 41, in a discreet wedding in the Bahamas in July.

They appeared together in the Woody Allen film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona", for which Cruz won the Oscar for best supporting actress in 2009.

In 2008 Bardem won the Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in "No Country for Old Men."

Kuranda gave no more details on Cruz, other than to say she is en route to London to complete filming of "Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger Tides."

I say congratulations to Penelope Cruz, but why oh why do so many think that marriage is not a necessity for bringing children into this world? The poor children that are raised without the participation of two "legal"--thereby committed--parents in their lives is sad. To have no legal committment beforehand makes those children bastards and it is felt in their life.

Come on, people,stop putting babies before marriage--you are hurting them in the long run!

It always makes me smile to hear good news from a couple who've chosen acting as a career but who don't court the red carpet every chance they get. It's obviously more about being in love than being each other's arm candy, y'know? The A-List couples who show up to every event and pose for every photographer draped all over each other just lack a sincerity somehow (TomKat, anyone?). But P&J are quite the opposite. They didn't even appear together in public for ages once they'd started dating, and still keep their appearances few and far between, to keep their private life ACTUALLY private (the antithesis of The Hills & reality TV generation of non-celebrities). Anyway, long story short: I'm happy for them! :)

Not really. There are a lot of variables that can be tossed into the mix. Those "two legal parents" you're raving about? They could end up hating each other, they could get a divorce, they could have affairs, etc., etc.

FlipMode was merely reflecting on what a great gene pool the baby will come from, i.e., two beautiful and talented (legal) parents.
