Wisconsin Election Results: Ron Johnson Defeats Republican Rivals In GOP Senate Primary

DINESH RAMDE   09/14/10 10:42 PM ET   AP

Ron Johnson Wisconsin Gop Senate Primary Election

MILWAUKEE — A Wisconsin businessman who spent millions on a largely self-financed campaign has breezed into a November matchup with incumbent Sen. Russ Feingold.

Ron Johnson crushed small-business owner Dave Westlake in Tuesday's Republican primary.

Johnson had the state party's backing. Much of his campaign this summer was spent positioning himself against Feingold, the Democrat looking for his fourth term. The pair already have traded a number of TV attack ads.

Johnson is the president of Pacur (PAK'-er), an Oshkosh-based plastics company. He has vowed to repeal health care reform and cut government spending.

Feingold has touted his record of independence and willingness to vote against the Democratic Party line.

'Sconnis-- don't sweat it about Johnson. The only way he'll get anywhere is if Russ' supporters don't do their bit and vote, so make sure you do that. We good.

One thing most of the posts don't mention---all of the tea "winners" are climate change deniers who would get rid of EPA along with ERA!

Our children would inherit more debt, less viable infrastructure, increased med. costs due to resp. illness (asthma, etc) and cancer (polution related), a further degraded enviroment from abuses by corps
. and a gov. that is even less able to address these problems (broke-no new taxes!)
-the middle class will fighting over whats left of the job market and getting paid whatever the ruling class feels is appropriate
and the poor will be in work houses or jail.

Then the ubber rich can all move to a nice socialist country in Eur. (Switzerland?) and tell all who will listen how the greedy middle class destroyed THEIR country!

There are wealthy Senators and congressmen and women in the Democtaic party but they don't pretend to be grassroots from the regular citizens' mouths when instead they are funded by multi billioniares with a secret agenda. The wealthy Democrats in the the House and Senate do vote for the working man and woman. They don't have to pretend and obfuscate. They vote their conscience and what is right for the majority of Americans who are not multi-millionaires with poluting private companies to protect. The tea partiers will be beholden to the Kochs and have to vote whatever the Kochs want.
They are the real deal!

What ideas does Johnson have? All he says is "I'M NOT FEINGOLD VOTE FOR ME!!!" his ads with the "Hard Work Common Sense Discipline" are a bunch of BS

So besides the talking points and seeing his ads and they're full of it, what exactly does he have to say as a reason to vote for him?

He's gonna be a lap dog, plain and simple. He'll heel to McConnell's call.

FEINGOLD..IS ALL THATS LEFT..OF THE "DEMOCRATIC PARTY"...BUT EVEN MORE SO?

FEINGOLD IS ALL THATS LEFT OF CIVIL LIBERTIES PROTECTING...HYPER INTELLIGENT...DEMOCRACY LOVING "REPRESENTATIVES"..

Westlake was never a serious contender in this race, not becuase of the money but because Johnson is the perfect canidate based on his history and political philosophy to beat Feingold. Feingold's days of saying one thing at home and voting another way in Washington will be over very soon.

I DEFY YOU..TO POINT TO ONE..YES...ONE.."REPUBLICAN"..OR..ONE "DEMOCRAT"..WHO VOTED...AGAINST..THE "PATRIOT ACT".

WELL..YOU MUST BE POINTING TO FEINGOLD..BECAUSE HE...WAS THE ONLY ONE!

Wisconsin: birthplace of the Republican party, home to a true progressive Senator Russ Fiengold and has the only fan-owned NFL team in the country, which was smart enough to get rid of that old fart Favre. Hopefully $10 million in billionaire funded attack ads won't fool too many voters.

An interesting fact about the history of the Republican Party and its origins in WI...the folks who started the party were inspired by a French socialist, Charles Fourier. They were part of a commune that started in Ceresco and Ripon, WI. I don't think you see this fact in too many histories of the Republican Party.

Sensationalized, again. The way the HP writes the headline is as if they had the amount of money in each candidate's bank account, next to their name. There ARE other issues that people actually voted for.

Where did you get that info? His financiers are the Koch Brothers. While they don't want their names attached to the actual mechanics of the astroturf movement, they are the instigators.

I am very confused
the baggers vote in millionaires who once they get in run from the baggers
so they will be more electable in Nov.
Seems like they are using the baggers?

Mainstream Republicans using Tea baggers? I'm Shocked! Shocked I tell you!
10:23 AM on 09/15/2010
The teabag movement has been paid for by the billionaire Koch Brothers, one of the largest environmental polluters in the US.

The Koch brothers are Libertarians who want no government helping their workers or regulating their companies.

How these tea party people can identify with the Koch Brothers and how they can want to be exploited as employees and have their breathing art fouled is beyonf me!

Exactly, that is the dirty little secret,(literally), of the tea party movement. We Dems seem to know this factual information behind the scene. Why do the tea partiers not know or do tjhey just not care. They watch Beck and listen to Limbaugh, Hannity and folow Palin so their info is just regurgitated party doctrine

Again, once more with feeling:

There are just three types of conservatives:
Millionaires, Billionaires and Chumps.

Chumps are used by the other two after they have effectively engaged their reptilian brain. It's all based on raw emotion rather than facts or historical perspective
