The cameras of C-SPAN are known for catching politicians in moments of unsuspecting candor and last night's concession speech from Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) produced one such sound bite.
Leaving the stage after formally accepting his defeat at the hands of Tea Party-backed Christine O'Donnell, the Delaware Republican could only chuckle at the path chosen by Republican voters.
"Good luck out there with your new leader," he said to a supporter who had come over to console Castle with a hug.
The shock was shared, apparently, by those who backed Castle's candidacy. On Wednesday several donors to the long-serving Delaware congressman told the Hill newspaper that they are unsure whether or not they will help O'Donnell with her general election bid.
