DNC Unveils New Website, Logo

First Posted: 09/15/10 12:05 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:40 PM ET

The Democratic National Committee has revamped both its logo and website in hopes of taking on a sleeker, less bureaucratic perception among voters.

The re-design went live on Wednesday morning with an accompanying tag line: "Democrats: Change That Matters." In place of the former logo -- DNC in block letters filled with an American flag -- the committee opted for a capital D engulfed by a blue-band circle.

Chairman Tim Kaine is expected to offer more details about the new site and messaging strategy during a speech at George Washington University later in the day. But the purpose of the relaunch, as someone familiar with the plans noted, is to provide the organization with a new identity that de-emphasized the image of a national committee (which, itself, conjures up visions of old men sitting around a conference room table).

The new look, indeed, seems torn out of the pages of the Obama for America campaign playbook, straight down to the circular logo and the evocation of "change."

I have created a new political legislative only party. The Liberal Democratic Party of the United States of America.

As for healthcare and the medicare prescription drug benefit the Democrats have created corporatized health care and a continuation of the lousy corporatized medicare part D.

The new logo looks like a dart board. The slogan should be "Democrats: The sane ones"

Is this new DNC logo a "New Coke" marketing blunder or a "jump the shark" moment?

Take a look at the new logo on a $30 t-shirt. It's smaller than the OFA logo on a $25 t-shirt. Does this mean that OFA is bigger than the DNC, or that somehow the DNC is a subset of the "O" (Obama/Obama For America/Organizing For America)?

You want see an example of a single-letter logo? Check this one out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_logo

oh - the "S" is the kryptonian symbol for "hope"

Ah! So this is the 'change' the Democrats were talking about in 2008. Same old Democrat politicians, the same old tax and spend ideology, the same old government takeover of private sector, the same old government intervention into our private lives, except Plouffe decided to recycle Obama's campaign graphics and slap it on to their website. Brilliant!

You don't need to watch Glenn Beck to notice what is being going on. You can read about it here in the HuffPo. And for the record, I don't watch GB or Fox News. Have a nice day!

That D in a circle reminds me of the ancient telephone-handset-in-a-circle that the Bell System used to use...too old-fashioned looking for today,I think!

Sigh... When will America learn that there are other political parties other than Democrat™ or Republican™. What a sad country...

Maybe the DNC should give us the "change" we were promised in 2008 instead of a freakin "change" of the web site.

So you would be happy with the "same old/same old" as the previous party oulines still? There have been changes-just not miracles. When the economy is bad, (due to Republican ideology) everybody gets negative!

Amazingly enough, with the exception of financial reform, the voters universally hate the "changes" that have been imposed on us. And a stupid new logo that looks like it was created on a TRS-80 is supposed to make us feel better about what, exactly?
