Christine O'Donnell Cancels Sunday Talk Show Appearances

Christine O'Donnell is backing away from her plans to appear on the Sunday morning talk shows this weekend.

The Tea Party-backed GOP nominee for Delaware's Senate seat had been scheduled to appear on both CBS' "Face the Nation" and "Fox News Sunday," but canceled both appearances.

"Christine O'Donnell just cancelled her appearance on tomorrow's FTN," "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer tweeted Saturday morning.

"They just emailed us and said she needed to cancel," Schieffer's senior producer, Mary Hager, told Politico.

"I feel your pain, Bob. A page from Rand playbook!" tweeted Betsy Fischer, executive producer of "Meet the Press." Rand Paul, the Tea Party candidate from Kentucky, canceled a planned "MTP" appearance in May.

And despite Sarah Palin's advice to her protege candidate — "Speak through Fox" — O'Donnell also canceled on Chris Wallace's "Fox News Sunday."

The AP reports that O'Donnell "canceled so she could attend previously scheduled events, including a Republican picnic Sunday in Delaware's Sussex County, where she received key support," according to a campaign spokeswoman. The spokeswoman added that O'Donnell looks forward to appearing on the shows in the future.

Just wait until they have millions of voters at their offices angry about the GOP's nonsense that is starting to smell like rotten fish - doing everything in their power to defeat Universal health care, their hatred of the unemployed, tax giveaways to the rich, send all the mexicans back, hatred of the poor, Mosquephobia, homophobia, and just plain ugliness. GET OUT AN VOTE - it is so important this year - these Teaparty GOP racists have tried to demasculate and make our president foreign and Moslem (as if it mattered) and in the process have stripped him of the honor due him - let him do whats right for america now. STOP the haters! We all know Obama is not perfect but weigh that against the Corporate power that owns the GOP which in turn works daily for their best interest in an assault against the middle class, the poor, the enviornment and continue to say NO to everything.

Isn't her "aging Reagan staffers and homeschoolers" comment worthy of the same bashing Hilary Clinton sustained over the "not just home baking cookies" comment?

I'd love to know why O'Donnell's being scrutinized for comments she made in her twenties, on a comedy show, no less, about something she did when she was seventeen, while her opponent — whatzhisname — isn't receiving the same scrutiny (or any scrutiny, for that matter) for having declared himself a Marxist back in the 80's. Double standard much? LOL. And you wonder why these candidates don't hand themselves over to the press wolves, opting to control the story themselves.

Meanwhile, liberals are making the same, same, same classic mistakes they always do: shining a 24/7 press spotlight on THE OPPOSITION, who's become a nationwide household name now, and bashing and mocking and smearing her, which invariably garners sympathy from fellow female voters, including Independents. And especially when the target looks like Gidget, for cryssake.

And what kind of damage do you think you're doing — other than to yourselves? Notice how these ridiculous attacks roll right off her.

Coons is getting scrutiny for his "Bearded Marxist" commentary. You just aren't reading the right stuff (literally Right).

I don't think anyone who represents a departure from the status quo should be taken for granted or lightly. However, I don't think the mocking is gaining her as much sympathy as you think.

Palin may have "galvinized the base" for John McCain, but in the end, the airheadedness that came out of her mouth was a liability for him. I don't care what O'Donnell said or did at 17, but what comes out of her mouth now is not much more advanced.

Do you think the Tea Party and Republican Party will self destruct with candidates like this?

I swear, she's a real Sarah Palin clone. What is wrong with the state of Delaware?

52% of Voters Say Their Views Are More Like Palin’s Than Obama’s

What liberals don't seem to understand is that you guys constitute a big 20% of the voting public, and conservatives outnumber you two-to-one.

Three women who dominate the Republican political news:
Michele Bachmann Senator for a state with a population of 5 million.
Christine O'Donnell Senatorial candidate for a state with a population of 0.9 million.
Sarah Palin former governor for a state with a population of 0.7 million.

My state alone, CA, has a population of 37 million people, six times the population of their constituency combined, and I resent the hell out of these extremists having such an influence over my legislative future, the political news and how it is covered.
09:17 PM on 09/20/2010
OMG, when you talk stats like that, I just lose my inhibitions!

(Good one, and while my state doesn't have your population, I share your robust disgust for extremists.)

I live in Delaware, we are a really small state, really small. When you talk about the 7 degrees of seperation, in Delaware we have about 2, thats how small we are. What im saying is almost every one knows every one else, and this train wreck has been comming for a little while now. Ms O'Donnell didn't show up for those shows because theres no way she could escspe without becoming a national laughing stock. This womans dog and pony show works on lower Delawares right wing loons, and Obama haters but she's an embareasment to the state i call home, and i wish it was all over. But at the same time, those would interviews would have been some funny TV.
08:03 PM on 09/20/2010
Wally, I don't know Delaware politics. Does she stand a good chance at winning? What a scary thought!
09:21 PM on 09/20/2010
Could happen. Moderate northern Delaware is more populated than more conservative southern Delaware, and Castle still got beat. The big question is, whether Castle backers will pull a "Gilchrest" (moderate Republican rep for 1st District Maryland who got beat by the more extremist Harris in the primary 2 years ago) and swing support for the Dem candidate. AND whether the Dems will do the math and like Biden said, not underestimate her, i.e., turn out with a vengeance for Coons.

Only if she had been stupid enough to hand herself over to the leftie press corps. You'll notice she didn't do that, though. She controlled the story herself. And, as usual, she's handled it splendidly, leaving mouth-foaming liberals looking like a bunch of monkeys. That's twice. Keep it up. You guys just come across as fearful and threatened, and YOUR candidate is receiving zippo air time, lest you haven't noticed.

Fox News is the "leftie press corps"?

Why is another Momma Bear receiving this much media attention? Granted its Hilarious but I'm sure there's a good amount of possible leaders and problem solvers that could do a lot with the speakers turned on for them.

Thank those fabuoulsly strategic liberals, who seem to believe that keeping their OPPONENT on air and in the headlines is a good thing. And I see that other powerhouse strategic thinker, John Stewart, is holding a rally the weekend before the election. Now THERE'S a recipe for disaster.  What are the chances he'll be mocking the "baggers" values and beliefs and (my favorite) bible thumping, cluelessly insulting God only knows how many fence-sitting Independents, in the process.

This is going to be a new tactic for the Tea Party and Republicans. If they don't have the knowledge on the subjects or their ideas are way out of the mainstream thinking then they simply won't talk to anyone. This should tell potential voters that this person is not a serious candidate. If the politicians are unable to expressed their ideas, if they have any, with intelligence and convictions then they shouldn't be running for any office. In this example and the Brewer debacle neither should be considered viable contenders. So now you just have to start looking at the candidates that will talk. But these silent politicians should be out of the race.

Says who? Liberal bloggers, spinning their faces off, with not a one of their "readers" questioning a word of it? Those Tea Partiers ARE the mainstream. They're conservatives, as in 42% of the voting population, as opposed to the big 20% of you.

I can think of a Prominent Politician who hadn't held any press conferences since July and is very selective about who gets to ask questions and which questions get asked. He's had maybe *one* appearance on Fox news ? Seems like yesterday was about the first time anyone got to ask him any tough questions.
