Joseph Owen Coy Arrested In Alleged Racially Motivated Beating Of CU Exchange Student

A Lafayette man is in custody after Boulder police say he used a racial slur against a University of Colorado student from Nigeria on Saturday morning, then repeatedly punched him in the face.

Joseph Owen Coy, 22, was arrested on suspicion of a bias-motivated crime causing injury, a felony, and obstructing a police officer. He remains in Boulder County Jail without bond.
