Adrian Healy & Girlfriend Kicked Out Of English Hotel For Writing Bad Review On TripAdvisor

A cancer patient and his girlfriend are furious with an English hotel after being kicked out after two nights of their three night stay, supposedly for writing a poor review on TripAdvisor, according to USA Today.

Adrian Healey and his companion, Sherrie Andrews, were two nights into their stay at Surrey's Golden Beach hotel for what was supposed to be his first break from a grueling round of chemotherapy for his testicular cancer (it was discovered that he had 14 tumors throughout his body), when the manager supposedly banged on their hotel room door and told them to get out for posting a bad review of the hotel on TripAdvisor, the Blackpool Gazette reports.

Healey told the Gazette: "We had been there a day when they said we couldn't get back in our rooms because they were recarpeting, and we didn't complain - all we asked was if we could have an extra towel. Then, on our second evening, he banged on the door and told us to get out, accusing us of writing a review on Trip Advisor, and said he would call the police."

The police were called to the hotel, and the couple decided to leave on their own volition.

A quick visit to TripAdvisor, it should be noted, shows that 59% of reviewers give the Golden Beach hotel a thumbs down.

If this is truly how the story unfolded, how did managment know this particular guest wrote the review...did Healy sign his name?

Is Healy denying writing the review?

If he didn't write it, why leave and not demand a refund?

So this hotel is wasting manpower hours looking at Trip Advisor? And even then, instead of trying to improve on the cited defects they resort to kicking a customer out, thereby buying themselves millions of dollars worth of free bad publicity?

I worked in the hospitality business for a time and nowhere would the reaction have been to ban a guest for a negative opinion of the hotel, but to try to mollify them.

Surrey's Golden Beach is obviously a minor league operation and an insult to the trade.

My sis had to kick someone out of her small B&B once ....

The woman ended up being a H00ker in visiting from N Y C 
The woman was bringing in johns every couple of hours

Planned 5 days....  out after 2.......

I didn't read in the article that the gentleman in question was accused of prostitution, so I can't see the relevance of your post.

Does the man have a legal right to review the hotel or doesn't he?

I'd be on the phone with American Express, if it were me in this situation. They do a pretty amazing, aggressive, and very personalized job of getting merchants to do the right thing...

You don't mention whether your sister charged the woman for five days and only provided two. Regardless of the reasons you terminate the agreement, unless you have a legitimate binding contract that says the payment isn't refundable *even if* the proprietor goes crazy and throws you out because they are a loon (or if she thinks the guest is a hooker or whatever)... well... hotel laws in your state may give you all power or they may not. I wouldn't want to be the hotel owner who accused someone of a crime, acted on the accusation, and then turned out to be wrong. It could easily be the end of your career. Could cost you your nice little farmhouse if you do it to the wrong person... (Big NYC laywer's daughter was a nympho, and you told the wrong people about it?)

Ah, Blackpool. Just about my favorite place in England. It's a working man's resort and reflects the very tackiest in all things that England has to offer. We've bought hand-made candles in the most obscene shapes, marvelled at the humungous plastic cartoon characters (Illuminated at night!) strung up for miles along the Promenade. It's a hoot.

OTOH, we had the best Vidaloo curry dinner of our lives at a restaurant in Blackpool. Can't remember the name, but could walk to it when there.

If you find yourself anywhere near Blackpool, DON'T MISS IT! Just avoid Surrey's Golden Beach.

Wow, talk about PR. Now, everyone knows what an obviously unwelcoming environment is offered at Surrey's Golden Beach. You haven't experienced hospitality like this, since you were in the hospital having chemotherapy.Yes, folks, remember that name, Surrey's Golden Beach, because the name will be changed by the end of the month.

You can't pay for this kind of bad press. But someone will.

hotels always treating to call cops to scare people. Just because you hear cops you think you dont have whole story.

Any very well traveled person can tell you some hotel workers or owners can be very evil and use cops to get there way all the time.

Many properties have no security personnel, so when they want to avoid unpleasantness between staff and a guest they want to boot off the premises the police get called.
