Carla Bruni Stops By United Nations, Brunches With Sarkozy's Ex-Wife Cecilia Attias (PHOTOS)

French First Lady Carla Bruni upped the chic factor at the United Nations on Monday morning, stopping by to listen to her husband Nicolas Sarkozy speak. Carla has been in New York since the weekend and the French First Couple reportedly had brunch with Sarkozy's ex-wife Cecilia Attias and Cecilia's husband Richard Attias at the Carlyle Hotel on Sunday. This isn't the first time that Cecilia and Carla have met--Carla and Nicolas stopped by Attias' townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan last year.

If you read the article it links to, It was a family meeting. Sarko, Bruni, the ex and her husband and their SON. The son lives with mom and the new husband and Sarko has visiting rights, so I think this was just a family visit. Bruni and Cecilia were there as part of the FAMILY

OMG. A current wife and a former wife had the temerity to enjoy a pleasant lunch together. Well, this is American and this is just not right .... There really is something to the theory that the Europeans are a bit more sophisticated and tolerant and forgiving than Americans. I don't find the luncheon to be so surprising, but apparently, the headline writer did!

Amazing, isn't it? I still enjoy an amicable relationship with my former husband and his family and I'm always taken aback when people question the time I spend with him and them. I get that my situation is not the norm here in the US, but it should be. Our kids mention that as a couple we're more comfortable to be around now than when we were married.

Laugh. My wife has a friend who is the mistress to a rich man. The mistress and wife know and like each other, and often go shopping together. Not unusual for him to take both to a restaurant for dinner.

Whatever works for people is right for them. One of my relatives' husband and ex-husband get along very well. The families get together for lunch, the men go to the ball-game together. She has kids with both. He has kids with the new wife too. The kids play together.
