The Most Inappropriate Reality Shows Of All Time (PHOTOS)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 09/21/10 08:22 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:45 PM ET

For every quality reality show like "Top Chef" or "The Amazing Race," there are a dozen degrading, offensive and downright tacky reality programs that make TV just a little bit dumber. Plenty of shows out there appeal to audiences' worst nature and are chock full of kitschy, guilty pleasure value (we're looking at you, VH1). But every so often we come across a show so indefensible, it makes us cringe at the fact that it was even picked up. Here's a collection of some of the most inappropriate and classless shows to ever make it on television. See our picks and vote for the most inappropriate!

"Bridalplasty"
1 of 13
The newest addition to TV's legacy of embarrassing reality shows is ABC's "Bridalplasty," in which brides-to-be compete in wedding challenges and each week's winners receive a different plastic surgery procedure. The idea is that by the winner's wedding day, she'll look "perfect" after undergoing enough procedures to make Heidi Montag blush (if she physically were capable). In addition, the ultimate winner will receive a "dream wedding" fit for a celebrity. Supposedly, it has even attracted the attention of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which forbids plastic surgery as a prize. And who says reality TV is morally bankrupt?

I didn't even know about these shows. I'm glad that I don't usually watch tv.

That's some grotesque shiite right there. Talk about the Fall of the Roman Empire.

I DO enjoy Top Chef and Project Runway, though. Those shows at least require talent.

I'm trying to figure out how a topless woman's photo was the best image to go with a title like "Who's your Daddy?". Guess it doesn't matter, the entire thing was tasteless.

Though I wonder if she ever got an answer as to who the guy is/was?

I have never seen a single reality show in my life, and I hope that I go to my grave having never seen one.

I was just thinking the same thing! Why would she be naked if her biological father may be in the room?

May I add one fine example from the Netherlands, the country where "Big Brother" was invented? A few years ago, there was an "Organ donor show" where the contestants all needed an organ donor and the winner would get one. One episode was aired, then it turned out to be a hoax.

The really sad thing is that they all look like 'very special editions' of various news shows...which is intended as an insult to the low state of journalism. Just wanted to drive that nail home.

Yeah, those shows suck. Kind of lost your credibility, though, when you revealed that you think that Top Chef and The Amazing Race are GOOD shows.

Uh, dude. Compared to these "shows", Top Chef and The Amazing Race are high art. Which isn't saying much.

"Battle of the Bods" is another one for the list. It's impossible to create a show more shallow (and, yes, that includes even Temptation Island).
And then there's "Paradise Hotel". A bunch of degenerates in a pointless, confusing, and surprisingly boring... contest? orgy?
Really, any show on the Fox Reality channel is deserving of being on this list.

Newton Minnow could not have envisioned "reality" shows in 1961, but he sure nailed it when he coined the term "the vast wasteland of television". But then again, perhaps he was prescient.

The S.S. Minnow on "Gilligan's Island" was named after him.
