Mike Huckabee: 'The Republican Establishment In D.C. Is Getting Spanked' (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee spoke to reporters in his home state over the weekend and said that recent Tea Party victories over GOP establishment candidates are a sign that some of the party mainline in D.C. is "getting spanked."

"I think the Republican establishment in D.C. is getting spanked and deserves it," Huckabee said. "Frankly, I'm thrilled that they're getting a little kicking in the backside over the races like in Delaware, because there has been this elitist and pompous, contemptuous attitude toward a lot of the grassroots."

Huckabee also brushed aside questions about a possible run for president in 2012, saying that he is focused on the current election cycle and working to "get a new Congress."

The former presidential contender finished second to Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) at a recent straw poll held by the Family Research Council's Values Voter Summit this weekend.

In a similar vote in 2009, Huckabee won overwhelmingly, taking more than twice as many votes as the second-place finisher, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
