Minnesota Testicle Festival Promises People Will (Literally) 'Have A Ball' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 09/20/10 01:08 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:45 PM ET

This past weekend, Zumbrota, Minnesota was home to the Minnesota Testicle Festival, an annual event that specializes in...well you get the idea.

The festival, which was billed as a family-friendly event, featured a beer garden, mechanical bull, rodeo, fashion show and a few concerts. The primary draw, however, were the 2,000 pounds of testicles served.

The testicles, which organizers claim looks like a chicken nugget, are cut into 1/4" pieces, beer-battered and fried and served in a french fry container.

Thousands descended on Zumbrota, including two people who flew all the way in from Germany.

Take a look at the hysterical ABC News video below.

Interesting how this got into Chicago News: "The Turkey Testicle Festival" has been a tradition for quite a long time now in Huntley, Illinois (suburb of Chicago). This seems to be the same thing.

This is just demeaning and not that far removed from tiger's penis, bear's spleen or whatever it is that some think will improve their sad lives.
If we chose to eat animals we should do it with respectful gratitude not sensationalistic objectification of the poor creatures.
Animals have by far have more dignity than most humans.

You're going to flip out, but in the XVI and XVII Spain, the many executed where cut into 1/4 for real and then thrown in the outskirts of the city for the people to see, like a head on a spike I guess. According to Francisco de Quevedo, the pieces were secretly collected and used to make meat pie ("pastel de a ocho") and then sold, and those who had relatives executed by justice, wouldn't dare to eat them. It's a creepy remark, I know, but I was deeply impressed when I found out, many years ago in High School.

I've eaten those in Italy, thin sliced and coated in bread crumb. Bulls have big ones, so you could make a decent steak, many people wouldn't notice.
