Taylor Momsen Strips To Her Underwear In 'Make Me Wanna Die' Video

First Posted: 09/20/10 10:10 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:45 PM ET

Taylor Momsen and her band, The Pretty Reckless, have just released the music video for their single 'Make Me Wanna Die,' and she strips down to her underwear and signature thigh-high stockings. Taylor, 17, removes her clothes as she walks down the street and catches fire.

Tim Gunn, who filmed a guest spot on 'Gossip Girl,' recently said that Momsen is "pathetic" and a "brat" on set.

that was a surprisingly good song. i was expecting it to be total crap, given what I'm read about her, but it was shockingly decent.

She's not pathetic. She's punk as f*ck. How punk is it to be beautiful, famous, successful, rich and suicidal before you're 18? That's totally punk.

My inner 13-year old highly approves of her ridiculously inappropriate angst.

Well not what I was expecting. I figured we'd hear another Britney or Christina wannabee....

NOW if they just got some killer lead guitar....

Haven't seen the video, and she sounds like a problem, but the song rocks. It was the perfect end to a Kick-Ass movie.

By the way, since I'm relatively new here, is there not something preventing the same user from flagging every post that she disagrees with as abusive?

Or is that just de rigueur? There should be some limit to that. Otherwise, why have it in the first place, if someone (the same user) can just go around flagging 10s or 100s of posts as abusive?

That doesn't make a lot of sense, to be honest.

Amazingly, someone flagged your post as Abusive.

Yeah, I noticed that. There's a lot of irony there. :)

F & F

I'm not sure how you know whether it is a 'she' but you do seem to quickly grasp how things work around here. It's sad but the free flow of opinion is not a high priority here. It's still a pretty good site overall though.

So I suggest she's a product of a soul-less, patriarchal society and I get censored?????

I'm not sure what you originally said, and I disagree with the choice to censor you.

But come on: She's a product of what she wants. Have you ever heard her interviewed? She knows what she wants, and she plans on getting it. Does her image come off as something she's definitely prepared? Absolutely. But I also think it's who she is, right now.

Taylor Momsen is a pretty talented lady. I don't watch Gossip Girls, but I do listen to her music now and then. She's 17, doing her thing, rocking out, on a tv show, and making a name and an image for herself. I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

Taylor Momsen may be derivative of Courtney Love and The Runaways - but music has been in a stasis for a long time. And really, once you've heard a lot of music, as most adults have, everything starts to sound like something else or look like something else. Similarity does not necessarily make something invalid. It takes time to meld influences into a seamless unique sound and look...time that at 17 she simply hasn't had.

What she's doing seems to me to come from a much more honest place than most teen starlets who cut albums. Sure she's a bratty 17-year old (why we expect more I don't know)...but her voice is really cool...and it's not heavily produced. Check out clips of her singing acoustically on YouTube and you'll hear it for yourself.

As for attacking her for being a "product" - I guarantee that Ron Fair would have been a lot happier if she'd wanted to put out a pop record...as marketing and selling teeny bop tv starlets has well-established models for moderate success. Truth be told...nobody knows how her band is going to do...because it IS a little different from the average. Her fame has certainly contributed to her opportunity to put out an album and she may not be as grateful as we would like her to be for the opportunities that she has had...but she still has talent.

I couldn't have agreed more with you. You nailed it.

And it is different, in that it's actually rock and roll, and not ... well, whatever else.

I dunno. I first heard this song in the movie 'Kick-Ass'. I liked it. I subsequently learned who the singer was. You know what? I don't care if she is 17. I don't care if she has 'raccoon eyes'. I don't care if she dresses the way she does. I don't care if she says silly things. And I don't care at all about her acting career. I saw her singing live and she is freakishly good. It could all amount to nothing but she could also develop into one of the most interesting singing talents we've seen in a while. Go ahead and complain about her. I'm just watching and listening.

Edgy! No female pop starlet has ever done that before -- except for all of them. Really, it's just boring. Her next move will be pretending to make out with another girl, I suppose.... zzzzzzz

Where are her parents?! She's 17 years-old for crap's sake! I am so sick of these parents pimping their little girls out for fame and money. Technically this is child pornography and the director AND her parents could be arrested for it.

I don't think I'm overreacting at all. Look at the evidence: Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, the Olsen Twins: these are all young women who started in showbiz at a very early age and were the breadwinners for their families. They then went on to spiral out of control: Britney pretty much had a nervous breakdown, LiLo has a drug and alcohol problem and one of the Olsen twins has been battling an eating disorder. Miley Cyrus is well on her way down this road as well. The fact that you even state that I'm overreacting proves my point. This has become the norm when its shouldn't be. The girl is 17 years-old. Her brain hasn't even fully developed yet! Parents are supposed to protect their children and guide them. My child would certainly not be stripping her clothes off for the cameras and traipsing around NYC in lingerie (Like Taylor Momsen does).

you are spot on! absolutely correct...anyone that says otherwise should really rethink their viewpoint, and ask themselves, would you allow your child to do the same thing?

She's no Joan Jett or Patti Smith that's for sure.
