New OK Go Video Promotes Animal Rescue Efforts

First Posted: 09/21/10 02:37 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:45 PM ET

Adorable Alert: Power pop sensation OK Go's latest video, "White Knuckles" attempts to top their viral hit "Here It Goes Again" (choreographed almost entirely on treadmills) by recruiting a troop of highly trained mutts to perform synchronized tricks to their tune.

But the new video isn't just notable for its unadulterated cuteness. At the end of the video, the band leaves a message to viewers:

"These dogs were lucky to find loving homes, but many others are still waiting. Help us support animal rescue efforts at the ASPCA."

On their site, the band confirms that most of the dogs in the video are rescues and that a portion of all proceeds from the sale of the video will go towards animal rescue.

The band also encourages fans to donate directly to the ASPCA.

ASPCA deserves respect, but it's naïve to take for granted that the dogs aren't trained via negative reenforcement.
Dogs (& humans) should be adopted!

An exceptionally creative use of dogs! I'll buy this track just to support OK GO for doing it!

Even if you are not a dog or cat lover the SPCA has many animals for adoption.
Just yesterday we adopted a parakeet (as our parakeet just died).
Before buying a pet check your local SPCA or any other animal shelter to see if they have a pet suitable for your home.

Anne Laurie, from John Cole's "Balloon Juice" provided a link to a site that describes how this video was made - IN ONE TAKE!!! (and also notes the goat at 2:51 that i'd missed).
it is amazing.

This video sends a powerful message, please adapt a rescue dog, mine is, from humane society and no pedigree dog would be any cuter or more lovable than that. Perhaps It is even better to adapt even two, very good for raising children, because the kids learn early on to take resposibilities.

By the way, LOOOOOVE...the video...

This video promotes OK GO's album, not animal rescue. Animal rescue fluff sprinkled on top so we buy album with smiley face. duh. consumerism 101.

OK Go is already famous enough...

If this doesnt promote Animal rescue, why did you mention animal rescue?

See... It does promote it.

Sorry, I'm just sick of these sales tactics covered in sugar. It's not as bad as Petco or other company that offers a customer the option to donate $ to animal shelters, and the customer proudly donates, and then Petco claims they donated millions to Animal Shelters when it was really their customers that did so. It's like the People are the ones donating NOT the band or Petco or what ever. OK GO is taking a greater cut when you buy album. All consumerism with candy sprinkles. DONATE DIRECTLY TO SHELTER. DON'T BUY ALBUM TO DONATE.

The audio is severely clipped. I find the distortion painful to listen to.

I had the same problem with listening to their newest CD -- most of the tracks are clipped (at least the CD I got from Amazon including a lot of clipped audio, and as a result I've only ever listened to it once. Too bad -- it sounded like there might have been some decent songs underneath the noise.
