Matt Weiner And Alan Ball Event At KCRW

Who: Mad Men creator Matt Weiner and True Blood creator Alan Ball.

What: KCRW's Elvis Mitchell hosts both influential writer/director/produces as part of "UpClose Conversations," a first-time online content collaboration between KCRW and NPR.

When: Matt Weiner is interviewed October 12, and Alan Ball on October 14. For both days, doors open at 7:30pm and the event starts at 8pm. Before the event, there will be a reception with complimentary drinks available.

Where: NPR West, 9909 Jefferson Blvd., Culver City, CA 90232

How: Tickets are available today, Wednesday September 22 at KCRW.com/upclose.

Why: if you're a die-hard Mad Men or True Blood fan, now's your chance to get the ultimate insider's perspective on your favorite show. From KCRW:

Mitchell will talk to Weiner on October 12, and Ball on October 14 about what inspires them as writers, their careers up to, and including their respective shows "Mad Men" and "True Blood," their views on the success of each of their series, and what this means to each of them personally, professionally and for the future of television.

There's no word yet on whether the complimentary drinks will be show-themed, but we humbly suggest gimlets for the Matt Weiner event and bloody marys for Alan Ball.
