WHY: LACMAs new Renzo Piano designed building, the Resnick Pavilion, is not only an impressive display of architectural design, but it will be filled with equally enticing exhibits. The gala to celebrate the opening of the new Pavilion will be hosted Saturday evening, when patrons will preview the most exciting of these new exhibitions, Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700-1915. The exhibition puts LACMA on a short list metropolitan museums with serious costume and textile departments. The Met in NYC arguably holds the title, for now. Check out our preview, below...

LACMA's young collector's group, the Avant-Garde, is hosting the Resnick Pavilion After Party, featuring a live performance from folk group, The Chapin Sisters as well as a preview of three inaugural exhibitions: Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700-1915; Eye for the Sensual: Selections from the Resnick Collection; and Olmec: Colossal Masterworks of Ancient Mexico and with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from Patina chef, Joachim Splichal.

Tickets are $200 for Avant-Garde members; $250 for non-members; $1,150 for introductory one-year Avant-Garde Membership + individual ticket.
