Jon Stewart returned to "The O'Reilly Factor" Wednesday for a lively discussion with Bill O'Reilly.

The conversation started with the Fox News host asking Stewart if he has "Obama remorse" after having voted for him in 2008. Stewart replied that he was not remorseful, but that "I agree with the sentiment that he ran as a visionary, and he's led as a functionary."

However, he mocked O'Reilly's view that Obama has failed to connect to "the folks" such as O'Reilly himself.

"You're just making things up! When was the last time you even visited Levittown, Bill?" ("Sunday!" O'Reilly interjected.) "How long are you going to play this fable that you're 'just a guy?'"

Later, O'Reilly asked Stewart why he seemed to be less of a target for liberals than he used to be:

O'Reilly: "Isn't it interesting that a couple of years ago I was target No. 1? Now I'm like 15 on the list. ... Did I lose my edge or have I been overtaken by brighter people?"

Stewart: "I wouldn't say brighter ... You've been overtaken by a more extreme version of you. You're like Fox 1.0. You're the beta version. Fox 2.0 has jumped over you to an extent that I don't think you could ever dream of, and, frankly, I think you fear. I think deep down inside you can't believe what you've unleashed...on this network, you're left-wing."

Too funny.

I have to agree with Jon though, Billy Boy hasn't been overtaken by the brightest, per se.

However, if being a right -wing whackadoodle was an Olympic event, he would make the American team.
BUT it would be the new crop up on the podium, thanking their deity for leaving their opponents in the dust... whoo hooo!
I think O'Donnell would have a very good chance to nab the Gold Medal for sure!
If she sticks the landing, that is...

Ok, back to reality, that was getting a little weird..no one should EVER visualise Bill in a gymnast's outfit

*shudder*

Again, O'Reilly comes unarmed to a battle of wits.
Game, set, match: Stewart.

I once asked a friend of mine to name one liberal person on Fox to make them "Fair and Balanced" and he said "Bill O'Reilly".

Seriously.

Stewart's reply to Bill O, being sad that he's no longer #1, made me "Jizz in my pants"

Brilliant, as per usual. Jon Stewart is a much needed voice of reason and I am so glad he is having this rally.

Bill, take your own frequently offered advisement, "Shut up."

Jon, it does you no service to appear on the propaganda channel.

I would point out that for those people who watch nothing but the FOX channel it might be the only exposure to sanity they get, so the more he's there the better it is.

FIXED NEWS is a 24 hour Republican infomercial.

How anyone takes anything they say seriously I do not not know.

Lies, distortions and phony front groups............

The average American living paycheck to paycheck needs to look at which party is
fighting for the middle class. Democrats are trying to save the middle class.

The Republicans are fighting for campaign contributions.
02:20 PM on 09/27/2010
if they're living paycheck to paycheck, they are not middle class

What are the middle class living on? The poor are all out of work, so they're not living from paycheck to paycheck for employment wages. I don't know anyone in the middle class who has a savings account anymore, and everyone I know would be totally s_crewed if they missed a week of work. I guess they are the new poor.

This reminds me of what Crossfire tried to be and was early on. Or maybe Gore Vidal vs. Wm. F. Buckley in the 60s. We need more face-to-face debate and these two icons of the two parties make for a good contest (albeit a bit lopsided as Stewart can talk circles around Bill O, party because he's brilliant and partly because is a consummate truth-teller).
